See Who Makes EVLC Amazing!
EVLC Board
Robyn Cook – Chairman
I chose to join the Board of Directors at East Valley Learning Center because, as a parent, I’ve witnessed firsthand how truly special this community is. The teachers and staff care deeply for every child, creating an environment where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn each day. Watching my own children grow both academically and socially has been such a gift, and joining the Board allows me to give back and support the incredible work being done here. I’m honored to share my perspective as a parent and help ensure other families experience the same warmth and excellence that ours has. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sociology from Wichita State University and spent over 13 years working alongside an orthopedic surgeon. That experience strengthened my passion for understanding people and building supportive, connected communities. Guided by my faith, I strive to serve others with compassion, empathy, and collaboration in all I do. Originally born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, I hold dual citizenship and was raised in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Arizona in 2010. Football is a big part of our family life, and we love cheering on the Arizona Cardinals together. Our family has been part of the EVLC community for over seven years. Our daughter, Caroline, started at just three months old in 2018 and still attends Summer Day Camp each year. Our son, Lincoln, joined in 2021 and is currently in the Pre-K 4’s program. EVLC has truly become a second home for us, and we’re so grateful to be part of such a loving, supportive, and faith-filled community.
Amanda Heisler – Vice-Chairman
Our family joined EVLC in February 2022, and from the moment we walked through the doors, I knew this place was special. The impact the school has had on our daughters’ education, faith, and happiness inspired me to join the board to give back and help support its future. I’m so grateful for the caring teachers, the faith-filled environment, and the sense of community that truly feels like family. Professionally, my background is in event planning. I started my career in finance before realizing my true passion was creating memorable experiences that bring people together. Over the years, I’ve planned everything from intimate gatherings to large corporate festivals and food and wine events, and I love finding ways to make each one meaningful. At home, you’ll usually find me in the kitchen. I’ve always been a big food lover and once dreamed of becoming a chef. These days, I channel that passion into cooking for my family, hosting themed dinner parties, and teaching my daughters their way around the kitchen. EVLC has become such an important part of our lives, and I feel blessed to serve a community that continues to pour so much love, faith, and joy into our children each day.
Katelynn Robinson – Secretary
I felt lead to apply to the EVLC Board because if we were going to be sending our kids here, I wanted to be as involved as possible to support the staff, school and community. I wanted to be able to give back to a place that nurtures and cares for our children in such a special way. My professional background is in Higher Education Technology. I am currently the Director of Enrollment Systems for Point Loma Nazarene University, a Christian Liberal Arts college in San Diego. I support our Recruitment and Marketing for Traditional Undergraduate programs and I serve as the system administrator for the Enrollment System of the University. Fun Fact: I am an EVLC alumni from the 90s. I love to listen to audiobooks, go to Burn Bootcamp (who wants to come with me!?) and try new recipes. I am always up for a coffee date and fellowship. We were blessed to join the EVLC family in 2022. We have four kiddos. Our oldest graduated in 2024 and our youngest will start in January 2026. We have found some of our dearest friends at EVLC, which has been a delightful bonus. I love that I know my kids are known, loved, cared for and seen. There is truly no better place than EVLC.
Pat Sullivan – Treasurer
I’ve been part of EVLC since the very beginning in 2017 and have loved watching it grow into the wonderful community it is today. I was inspired to join the board because I’m deeply passionate about the school’s mission to raise up children who know how to walk with Jesus. Preschool is such a formative time in a child’s life, and I truly believe EVLC’s thoughtful, faith-filled approach is a gift to every family. My background is in education, and I hold a bachelor’s degree in Education with an emphasis in music. I’ve worked as a preschool administrator for 30 years, and early childhood has always been where my heart is. I love using my experience to help guide EVLC as we continue building on its Christ-centered foundation and preparing children for lifelong learning. When I’m not serving the EVLC community, I love teaching and leading praise and worship for kids, spending time with my family, and playing trivia games. I’m also an avid seamstress and enjoy repurposing tapestry throws into jackets, it’s my creative outlet! What I love most about EVLC is the sense of belonging. Parents, staff, and children are truly partners here, and I’m so grateful to be part of a place where families are known, loved, and supported every day.

Joining the EVLC board I wanted to find more ways to connect with our school community beyond the quick daily pickup. I started getting to know families at birthday parties and really enjoyed building friendships for both our kids and ourselves with others in similar stages of life. Even though I wasn’t sure at first how my skills would benefit the board, I knew I wanted to give back to the school and teachers who have been such an important foundation for my kids while I’m at work. Serving on the board has been a fun way to learn more about the school and get more involved. I serve as Vice President of the ASU Alumni Association, where I oversee strategy, budget and operations while leading efforts to build a strong alumni community. My professional background blends marketing, event planning and public relations, making this role a natural fit. I look forward to bringing that mix of skills and experience to my work on the board. My husband and I love to travel! While we haven’t done as much now that we’ve had kids, we look forward to the time when they are old enough to go explore the world with us and build appreciation for other cultures. Our family joined EVLC in the spring of 2021 when our oldest was just three months old, and now all three of our kids are here. What we love most is the strong foundation they’re building growing in character, learning the Bible, making friends and preparing for elementary school. Along the way, we’ve met wonderful families and built a true sense of community, from weekend playdates at the trampoline park to finding close family friends.

I’ve had the honor of being part of the original board that started EVLC. When my child’s preschool was closing, I felt motivated to be part of the change and help get a new place up and running. There’s a saying, “There’s no place like home,” and EVLC quickly became home for both my kids, who are now in elementary school. My background has always been rooted in education. I hold a degree in Community Health and began my career teaching nutrition to elementary students in the Tempe School District before joining a non-profit that provides meals and dignified employment to families globally. I’ve been in that area of work for more than 15 years. When I’m not watching my son play baseball or my daughter dance, you’ll most likely find me in the kitchen making all things sourdough, I’ve joined the sourdough club and there’s no going back! Our family has been part of EVLC for roughly nine years, and what I love most is how friendly, kind, and intentional the community is. The staff and families truly care, and they instill in the kids from a young age that you are never too young to help someone in need.

I have spent over 20 years in early childhood education, with many of those years serving as a lead teacher in a preschool classroom before stepping into leadership. That time in the classroom gave me a strong foundation and a deep understanding of how important the early years are in shaping a child’s development and future learning. As both the Director of EVLC and a member of the Board, I am grateful to bring a unique perspective that combines hands-on teaching experience with leadership and long-term vision. I am passionate about supporting children, families, and teachers, and about helping build a strong, faith-centered community where everyone feels supported and valued. I care deeply about quality early education, early intervention, and creating safe, loving environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive. EVLC has been a significant part of my life, and to me it is more than just a school it is a family rooted in faith, love, and shared purpose. My relationship with God guides me in my service on the Board and reminds me to lead with kindness, patience, and grace as we steward the mission and future of EVLC. Outside of my work with EVLC, I am a proud wife and mom of two sons. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our boys, and our two dogs, whether we are at home or finding new adventures together. I also love paddle boarding, snowboarding, and traveling. In every area of my life, I strive to live out my faith by building meaningful connections and ensuring those around me feel valued and cared for.

My family and I have been part of the EVLC community since 2017, with both of my children attending the school. From the very beginning, EVLC has been more than just a place for childcare for our family it has been a safe, nurturing environment that has supported our children’s growth during some of the most important years of their lives. I am an automotive professional with over 20 years of experience, along with many years dedicated to ministry and volunteer work. These roles have shaped my belief in the importance of service, leadership, and giving back to the community that supports us. My family and I are Arizona natives and have spent our entire lives here, with plans to continue raising our family in this community. I joined the EVLC Board because I strongly believe in supporting organizations that invest so deeply in children and families. Serving on the board allows me to give back to a school that has given so much to my family, while helping ensure EVLC continues to be a place where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow in a healthy, faith-filled environment.

I was inspired to join the Board of Directors at EVLC because I deeply believe in the mission of providing a Christ-centered education that nurtures both the hearts and minds of children. Serving on the board allows me to help shape an environment where students can grow academically while also building a strong biblical foundation rooted in faith. From my Christian worldview, I believe we are called to use our gifts to serve others and glorify God in all that we do, and this role is one way I am able to live out that calling by supporting teachers, families, and students as they pursue excellence through Christ. Professionally, I worked in healthcare as a medical device representative with Stryker Orthopedics, where I managed a team of clinical robotic support experts assisting orthopedic surgeons across Arizona and Nevada. Outside of work, my family and I enjoy camping, boating, and traveling together, and I love quilting, crafting, and exploring Arizona as a native of this state. Our family has been part of the EVLC community for four years, starting when our oldest son was just one year old, and we plan to send all four of our children through EVLC. What we love most is being part of a community that is passionate about education and truly raises children like family, building meaningful relationships with parents, students, and staff that we know will last a lifetime.

I was inspired to join the EVLC Board of Directors after our youngest son, Parker, attended EVLC and our family experienced firsthand the tender care, compassion, and love of Jesus shown through the faculty and staff. They loved on our child and our family in such a profound way that my wife and I both felt a strong desire to give back to a place that had given so much to us. When I was nominated and invited to join the board, it was truly a no-brainer I felt honored and excited to serve at an early learning center that boldly puts Jesus first. Professionally, my background is in human performance and corporate wellness, where I have had the privilege of working with several Fortune 100 companies, investing in the health, wellness, and sustainable performance of their workforce, including organizations such as Microsoft, Walgreens, Intel, Honeywell, and Bank of New York Mellon. On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Northwest Montana just outside of Glacier National Park, which led to a love for snowboarding during long winters. After living in Arizona for the past 15 years, I’ve adopted longboarding as a substitute for snow and enjoy cruising the neighborhoods while my daughter and son ride bikes, scooters, or hoverboards alongside me. Our family has been part of the EVLC community since Parker attended at age three in 2020, and over the past five years, what we have loved most is the atmosphere and culture that Mrs. Jaime so intentionally models and promotes. Because Jesus is praised, honored, and glorified at EVLC, the presence of God’s love, His Holy Spirit, and a deep sense of peace are truly felt, and we cherish how that spirit is shared among the children, families, and staff.
